What to Consign: Our Best-Selling Categories at New Digz
What to Consign: Our Best-Selling Categories at New Digz
Thinking about consigning but not sure what to bring? You're in the right place. This guide breaks down exactly what sells fast at New Digz — based on what actually moves off our floor. No guesswork. Great pieces are welcome anytime.
📈 Why Consignment Is a Smart Move Right Now
- The U.S. resale apparel market is growing rapidly. As of 2024, secondhand apparel accounted for roughly 14.4% of the total U.S. apparel market, and that share is forecast to rise to around 20% by 2029.
- More consumers — especially younger adults aged 25–34 — are embracing resale for affordability, sustainability, and unique style.
- Online resale marketplaces are becoming mainstream: many sellers report average resale transactions occurring within just a few weeks of listing.
- Resale isn't just about low prices — luxury and premium items hold up in value, creating strong incentive for consignors to specialize in high-demand categories.
🔝 What Sells Best at New Digz
Style Over Brand — Unique & Different Outperforms Common or Neutral
At New Digz, style often matters more than brand. Our Brands We Accept page is a helpful guide — but it's not an exhaustive list. A truly special, eye-catching piece can absolutely make the cut even if the brand isn't on the list. What consistently outsells common or neutral styles? Pieces that stand out. Bright, vibrant, rich colors and bold prints move fast. Unique and different for the win 🏆
Dresses — Our #1 Top Seller
Dresses are consistently our best-performing category. From casual day dresses to elevated styles, they appeal to a wide range of customers and sell quickly regardless of the time of year.
Luxury Handbags & Designer Accessories
Luxury handbags are our highest grossing revenue and strongest, most consistent category. Timeless, one-of-a-kind show stopping styles attract buyers willing to pay premium resale prices. Check our Brands We Accept page for designer references, but don't hesitate to bring in a standout piece.
Tops & Blazers
Tops (including tees and sweaters) and blazers outsell skirts and pants by a wide margin. Blazers in particular perform well — especially casual blazers or styles that can be dressed up or down. Bold colors, interesting textures, and versatile cuts are your best bet. Note: professional or corporate blazers are not a strong fit for our customer base. Sweatshirts and graphic tees also sell extremely well and move quickly off the floor.
2-Piece Sets & Tracksuits
Coordinated 2-piece sets and tracksuits are a strong and growing category. Customers love the ease of a ready-made outfit, and these pieces sell well across a range of styles and price points.
Boutique Pieces
Boutique and independent label pieces are a standout category on their own. These items often have unique detailing, quality construction, and a distinct aesthetic that resonates strongly with our customers. If it feels special, it probably is.
All Things Denim
Whether it’s a pain of jeans, a bag, a cute dress or top, quality denim is a reliable seller. For jeans, wide leg and barrel cut styles are great sellers. We look for denim in excellent condition with a modern fit.
Natural Fibers & Stretch Fabrics
Pieces made from natural fibers — linen, cotton, silk, wool — tend to photograph well, wear beautifully, and hold their value in resale. We also love fabrics with stretch that can fit a multitude of body shapes. Versatility across sizes and body types is a major selling point, especially with online sales.
Outerwear — Coats & Jackets
Coats and jackets are a seasonal category that performs well when the weather calls for it. Bring these in during fall and winter for the best chance of a quick sale. Functional, stylish, and well-made pieces from recognizable brands do best.
Hats
Hats are a great add-on category. Baseball caps, fedoras, and straw hats sell well. Please note: we do not accept church hats.
Jewelry — Fine & Costume
Jewelry is one of the most overlooked consignment categories — and one of our best opportunities. Fine and costume jewelry both sell consistently well. David Yurman cable bracelets, for example, are a strong performer. Don't leave your jewelry at home!
Luxury Fragrances
Another frequently overlooked category. Luxury fragrances in good condition sell well and are easy to bring in. If you have bottles you no longer use, they're worth including.
Belts & Eyewear
Belts and eyewear — including designer and fashion sunglasses — are consistently underestimated. They sell well and are easy to process. See our post on what makes a great pair of consignment sunglasses for more detail.
Swimwear
We do accept swimsuits, but they must be new with original tags attached. No exceptions.
Formal Wear
We accept formal wear on a seasonal basis — October through December only, in alignment with holiday demand. Please hold formal pieces and bring them in during that window for the best chance of a sale.
❌ What We Don't Accept
- Professional wear — suits and corporate attire
- Formal wear outside of October–December
- Church hats
- Swimwear without original tags
💡 Tips to Maximize Your Consignment Experience
- Focus on condition: Clean, well-kept garments significantly outperform pieces that show wear. Buyers are looking for quality at a lower price point.
- Think versatile and timeless: Unique pieces that transcend fleeting trends — quality denim, bold basics, classic outerwear — consistently appeal to a broad audience.
- Don't overlook accessories: Jewelry, belts, fragrances, and eyewear are easy to bring in and often sell faster than you'd expect.
- Check our brands list: Review our Brands We Accept page before your appointment — but remember, it's a guide, not an exhaustive list.
